Water Softener Systems

Hard water is water with high levels of minerals like magnesium and calcium. Water softener systems improve your water through a process called ion exchange, which removes the calcium and magnesium ions from your water and replaces them with sodium ions, softening the water accordingly. So, with this type, you’ll need to add salt to maintain the perfect water softness for your home.

What is water softening system ?

Through the process of ion-exchange, water softener systems work in removing magnesium and calcium found in the water by replacing them with sodium ions. As the hard water is introduced in the mineral tank, it meets a bed of resin beads that grab hold of the mineral ions, which effectively releases the sodium ions consequently.

When water is hard, it can clog pipes, damage boilers, heat exchangers, and many other devices. So, water softener systems can prevent these negative effects. Hard water causes a higher risk of lime scale deposits in industrial, commercial and household water systems.

Advantages of the Water Softener

  • Do not allow the scaling problem from occurring in your home, business, industrial facility
  • Extends the lifetime of your equipment or appliances (as a result of eradicating scaling)
  • Provides more comfort to humans who are exposing to hard water and accumulate unwanted symptoms such as itchy skin, and discolored hair
  • Automatically regeneration accordingly

How does water softening system work?

Industrial water softener systems are specific ion exchangers that are designed to remove ions which are positively charged.

Hence, softeners mainly remove calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+) ions. Calcium and magnesium are often referring to as “hardness minerals”. Softeners are sometimes even applied to remove iron from water.

The softening devices are operating automatic, semi-automatic, or manual. Each type is rated on the amount of hardness it can remove before regeneration is necessary. Commercial water softener systems collect hardness minerals within its conditioning tank and from time to time flushes them away to drain.

When an ion exchanger is using for water softening, it will replace the calcium and magnesium ions in the water with other ions, for instance sodium or potassium. So, the exchanger ions are filling to the ion exchanger reservoir as sodium and potassium salts (NaCl and KCl). Also, we call this one as brine tank.

How long can I use the water softener system?

You can use at least 15 years Chunke Water Softener System, but periodically you have to change ion-exchange resin and feed salt into brine tank. How often you have to change ion-exchange resin in the water softerner tank is an impportant question. So, it is depend on your water hardness, our engineers can help you to calculate circle time of regeneration.

Our water softener systems can work with brackish water desalination systemseawater reverse osmosis purification system as well.
